Port Dover, the first of Len’s 8 Southern Ontario locations, opened its doors for business in 1946. The original business began as Norfolk Knitters in 1921, manufacturing children’s sleepwear; as times changed the retail aspect grew to its present site which encompasses 30,000 sq.ft. in 2 huge warehouses.
Known as “The Mill”, the Port Dover outlet is a highlight on many bus tours and Sunday drives. We feature such goodies as scrap booking supplies, giftware, seasonal and festive merchandise, sewing and craft supplies, bed, bath and kitchen linens, house wares and hardware, quilting supplies, fabric from around the world, upholstery, vinyl, drapery and drapery hardware. We are famous for our “One of a Kind” designer samples selling at wholesale prices or less! In Port Dover, Swimsuit Season is never over! Our yarn department boosts over 120 different kinds of yarn, all the latest colours and textures, complimented by continuously changing displays to set your imagination free! The 5 acre setting accommodates a weekend and holiday Flea and Farmers Market on the front lawn, free to vendors during our store hours. We have plenty of paved parking and are handicap accessible. We are open 364 days a year, Mon-Sat 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m. Sun 12:30-4:30, and all Holidays. The Port Dover location has always employed a good local work force and contributes to the town’s development and prosperity.
Port Dover has become a tourist Mecca. It has it all for a day trip or a relaxing extended getaway. Located on the “South Coast” of Canada, with close proximity to the American borders the town has historic Bed & Breakfasts, Professional Summer Theatre, Charter Boats, Boat Building, Fishing Fleet, Museum, Mini Golf , Yacht Club, many Bars and Restaurants serving World Famous Lake Erie Perch and Pickerel and the Famous Foot Long “Arbor” Dog. Port Dover’s history in music goes back to the famous “Summer Garden” dance hall featuring many new and rising stars, in keeping with tradition there are free concerts in the town park Sunday Evenings, during the summer and there is always live entertainment in the local taverns year round.
